As of 31 July 2019, the city had an estimated population of 48,484 in 17,916 households, and a population density of 510 persons per km². The total area of the city is 94.19 square kilometres (36.37 sq mi). The city is known for production of green tea. The city's slogan is "Green for the Next Generation".
