Awara (あわら市, Awara-shi) is a city located in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 March 2021, the city had an estimated population of 27,107 in 10,140 households and the population density of 232 persons per km². The total area of the city was 116.98 square kilometres (45.17 sq mi). It is one of the few Hiragana cities in Japan. Awara is a city famous for its onsen resorts and natural hotwater springs.
